Starting in 2026, Austin will host a new PGA Tour event at the Omni Barton Creek Resort and Spa.

The event will feature a purse of at least $16 million and will be played on a rotating basis throughout Austin's four municipal golf courses.

This will be the first PGA Tour event hosted in Austin since 1936.

The tournament is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the area, as well as showcasing Austin as a premier golf destination.

In Austin, Texas, voters are deciding on Proposition Q, which would require the city to maintain existing camping restrictions.

Advocates argue that the proposition would help address homelessness by encouraging people to seek shelter and services.

However, opponents argue that the proposition could criminalize homelessness and hinder efforts to provide more permanent housing solutions.

The outcome of the vote will have significant implications for how the city manages its homeless population and addresses the issue of housing insecurity in the future.

Home sales in Austin increased in September, marking a buyer's market as inventory rose and prices remained stable.

The Austin Board of Realtors reported that sales were up 36.4 percent compared to September 2020, with a total of 3,034 homes sold.

The median price for a single-family home in the Austin area increased by 15.6 percent year-over-year to $517,000.

Despite the rise in sales, overall housing inventory saw an increase, providing more options for potential buyers.

Experts suggest that the market is still strong, attracting buyers with low mortgage rates and a diverse job market.

Let’s talk bites and sips around town:

  • Flourish Plant Shop & Wine Bar (North Loop) – As mentioned, this new spot opens Friday. Think overhead greenery, soft lights, and a curated list of wines from France, Texas, Spain and beyond. Share a seafood plate, olives, chips and settle in for relaxed ambiance.

  • Mexican Sugar (The Domain) – A tequila-centric new Mexican spot coming to The Domain soon, with a huge agave library, mesquite-grilled entrées and lively vibe. Worth marking for dinner night.

  • Home Slice Pizza (South Congress) – While this is a bit of “uh-oh” news (see fire in News Snapshot), we mention it because the place is beloved and will reopen. Newer pizza-roamers should note: authentic NY-style, thick crust, quirky SoCo energy

  • Seasonal treat: Pumpkin-spiced latte and short-rib tots at your usual favourite café – OK, I don’t have a single café link, but autumn is here in ATX, so seek out those fall flavours: crisp air, a cozy café seat, and that caramel-nutty latte. Bonus: read a book at The Baker Center afterwards.

aww aren't they cute?

Pets of Austin

Meet Gobi! 🐶 This lovable, happy-go-lucky pup is blossoming into a marvelous companion. Gobi is not only friendly and social, 👫 but he also relishes meeting new people — be it guests at home or strangers out and about. Gobi is a social butterfly with fellow pups 🐕 in his foster home and enjoys epic play sessions! 🎾

Still a pup at heart, Gobi is diligently working on his manners and potty training, and he's progressing fantastically! He’s crate-trained for up to four hours and is learning to snooze through the night. His amazing fosters are aiding him in learning good habits, like exchanging toys instead of grabbing them, and he's picking it up swiftly – such a smarty-paws! 🧠🐾

Gobi is great with kids, but he'd thrive best with older children who can comprehend and assist in managing his energetic puppy vibes. It's important they respect his space during meals or toy time. As of now, he's a tad too playful with cats, so a cat-free home 🏠😸 (or one with a super-confident feline with gradual introductions) would be ideal.

If you desire a sweet, bright, and affectionate pup eager to learn and dive into the action, Gobi might be your perfect match! 🌟
